THE North Thompson Fall Fair and BCRA Rodeo Finals HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO Box 873, Barriere, B.C., V0E 1E0 SEPTEMBER 4-6, 2021.
Over the past four months we have been aware that due to the Covid-19 pandemic a decision was needed regarding postponing our 2020 annual Fall Fair and Rodeo.
We have taken this very seriously, and have been committed in making the right decision to not in anyway jeopardize the health of our members, volunteers, entertainers, exhibitors, vendors, fairgoers, and our community at large. We all love our historic and traditional event, and recognize how important it is to our members, supporters, and especially our pioneer families.
We also recognize how vital the resulting economic boost from this annual event is for area businesses, service organizations, the town of Barriere, and the region.
Last week the B.C. government announced the province’s Four Phase Plan for getting back to ‘a new normal’.
B.C.’s FOur Phase plan requires there will be no hosting of rock concerts, conventions, concerts, parades, large sporting events, or any other large gathering beyond 50 people until there is a vaccine ( not expected until sometime next year), treatments for COvID-19, or community immunity has been achieved.
Therefore, with great sadness, we are announcing that the NTFRRA Board if Directors on May 10th, 2020, unanimously approved a motion to postpone the 71st North Thompson Fall Fair and BCRA Rodeo Finals until the Labour Day weekend in 2021.
This decision did not come lightly, but it is a decision made in the best interest of public health and safety.
COVID-19 has kicked the rug out from under us this year, but we will survive, and so will North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Events. Now is the time to look after what we have, keep a tight budget, and continue to move forward with sound planning and decision making.
