1971 North Thompson Fall Fair Highlights Big Weekend

The twenty-second annual North Thompson Fall Fair takes place this coming weekend and for the first time ever this will be a two-day affair — Sunday and Monday, Sept. 5 and 6.
Several "firsts" for the Fall Fair are to take place this Centennial year—one being Pony Chariot racing which is scheduled) for both days. I A tug-of-war challenge issued toy the Barriere Fire Department has been accepted by the Clearwater and Westsyde Fire Department to date.
Entries for domestic exhibits —baking, sewing, hobbies, etc., will be taken up until 12 noon on Saturday, Sept. 4. Deadline for poultry and other livestock is 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 5 at the East Barriere Lake Road location.
The big Fall Fair parade takes plaice on (Monday at 11 a.m. and will be led by the Salmon Arm Pipe band. There will be many floats from different organizations and businesses in the area and children will be dressed in colorful costumes riding brightly decorated bicycles. Assembly will take place at 10 am by the Barriere United Church.
Judging of all events gets under way at 10 aim. Sunday continuing all day.
Dog lovers can watch the obedience display both afternoons.
Gymkhana events and a Pioneer horse race will take place Monday afternoon.
Displays indoors and on the grounds will, be open at 10 a.m. both days to give visitors a good chance to look around.
A few Fall Fair catalogues are still available at no charge from The Times office.
Again this year the Kamloops Pigeon Club will be providing a young pigeon show—-a feature which proved popular at Fair last year.
Topping off the two-day show will be a giant dance in the Fall Fair buildings Monday evening with the Roadrunners in attendance at the reasonable cost of $2 per person.
And the action all takes place this weekend, Sunday and Monday, Sept. 5 and 6 at the Fall Fair grounds, East Lake Road in Barriere.
