Pageant contestants dazzling

Sparkling young ladies with dazzling smiles turned out to compete in the Miss
North Thompson Fall Fair 2005 Pageant held on Aug. 27 at the Barriere Elementary
School. They danced, performed an individual talent, were presented in evening
gowns, and answered impromptu questions for eight judges and a large audience
who attended the event.
The decision of the judges awarded the new 2005 - 2006 reigning Queen crown to
Dani Noble of Barriere accompanied by her princess Hayley Holowaychuk from
Louis Creek.
During the pageant the six candidates from the North Thompson Valley, Miss AG
Foods Hayley Holowaychuk, Miss Barriere Lady Lions Megan Worthington, Miss
Canfor Jarilyn Mackenzie, Miss Dee's General Store Lacey-Starr Crombie, Miss
Tenzer Enterprises Dani Noble, and Miss Ghinty Service Brittany Nelson were
i n d ividually introduced with their sponsors along with the then current reigning royalty,
Queen Ashlynn Harris and Princess H o l l y - R o s e Vesper.
The retiringQueen and Princess performed " G r e a s e d Lightning", a fast moving
dance well-choreographed by Princess Holly-Rose Vesper.
All of the candidates shared the stage for "Rock and Roll Music" which got the audience tapping their toes to the beat.
During the talent portion of the competition innovative candidates played an electric
guitar, styled a quick hairdo, drew a fast art poster, told a story about a dragon with a
princess, performed a comedy skit, and rock and rolled with a mannequin.
Eight BC towns sent their royalty to attend the event and Miss BC Ambassador
was also in attendance. Miss Tenzer Enterprises Dani Noble received a $500
scholarship from Barriere and District Chamber of Commerce, the NT Fall Fair
and Rodeo Knowledge Award, and the NT Star/Journal Speech Award.
Miss AG Foods Hayley Holowaychuk received the Gilbert Smith Forest
Products Talent Award. Miss Dees General Store Lacey-Starr Crombie
received the Friendship award, which is voted on by the candidates themselves.
Certificates were presented to all of the girls on behalf of MLA Kevin Kruegar and
MP Betty Hinton.
